About the Project:
It was during my adolescence that I became obsessed with PERSEPOLIS. I used to think: “How come, they don't renovate it?” This made me creating PERSEPOLIS in my imagination and walking through it. For hours and days, all those statues of men with wings and bodies of huge bulls, and those beautiful column capitals which carry the heads of eagles, lions, and cows, ( which for times, I would think of them as horses ! ) would occupy my mind and thoughts.
The color and shape of these figures had mesmerized me for years. And it was during my studies in art school, and the entrance of computers in my life, that the thought of restoration of PERSEPOLIS in 3D become an obsession for me. I started my research by gathering resources and realized that unfortunately; the information available on this subject is limited and lacking!
Only a couple of books had devoted to PERSEPOLIS, and except some Nourouz new year's postal cards, you couldn't find any pictures of today's PERSEPOLIS anywhere not to mention I was looking for the ancient, old one.
I went to Shiraz and took a lot of pictures from the ruined PERSEPOLIS. Besides doing my ordinary jobs, I began creating 3D meshes from all the available pictures and sources, and day by day. I would look for more Information on the subject. After a while,
The pictures and animations found in this web site are the result of 5 years of hard work, (not consecutively though, for we had to earn money to afford life!). After a while,I received Mr.Krefter's designs of his remodeling, plus some copies and blueprints of the area . Being extremely excited for having these information, and with the help of the blueprints, now,I coud have reconstructed the whole PARSE .
The images and animation you finde in this site are the result of 5 years work, though sporadic, along with daily chores . the construction of the modeles of this project, began from the spring 1998, and it was in the winter of 2002, that the construction of the whole PARSE was finished . In the doing so,we used many softewares such as 3DS MAX ,Adoobe Photoshope,After effects and some "plugins".
The main pattern for these remodelings,is the work and style Mr. Krefter, whom I, personally, respect a lot,and wish to thank him his efforts and dedication - his soul rests in peace - . Definitely, it would have been impossible to start this project/without his pieces .
More over,in building this project,we have used the opinions and contributions of Ms. Haidi Mary Khokh, phd, Dr. Alireza Shahpour Shahbazi, and some ather scholars and archeolgists of the Achaemenidate period .
I hope that this version of PARSE's reconstruction, woud dipict some of the glory and authority of this forgotten and vast emproship of the Achaemendate to the lovers of the our land,Iran . Ofcours, this reconstruction of PARSE, is not the one and only ,and will be not . However,I have tried to include in this projects, the elements of aesthetics, and be faithful to its true orginality az much as possible.
