"PERSEPOLIS",or " TAKHT-E-JAMSHID" was build by the wish of king of PERSIA , the first Achaemenidae Darius , in 512 B.C.

All the halls and auditoriums of PERSEPOLIS were used for ancient Iranian ceremonies held in the amplitude of "RAHMAT" mountain located in MARVDASHT (45 Kilometers before Shiraz). These halls were expanded on a rectangular area with 300 meters of width, 445 meters of length, and approximately 15 meters of height above the surface of the area.

After the great Darius, his son, Khashayarsha (Xerxes), finished the half-completed structures of his father's, and, also added more halls to the collection. The process and completion to this environment, after Khashayarsha, chronologically, was left to 1st Ardeshir (Artaxerxes), 2nd Darius, 2nd Khashayarsha, 2nd Ardeshir and 3rd Ardeshir, for about 148 years.

Finally, this huge monument was set on fire and half-destroyed by the great Macedonian Alexander in 331 B.C.

By a common mistake, people refer to PERSEPOLIS as TAKHT-E-JAMSHID or something related to JAMSHID, (a mythological character in FERDOWSI's SHAHNAMEH,) for in SHAHNAMEH's myths it is JAMSHID who possesses the Powerful demons and has influence upon them. and all the people believed that such magnificent structures can only be made and created by these Powerful demons.

(( In the PERSEPOLIS monuments and structures, one could find the essentials, foundations, and lofty values of the Iranian architectures, because it was important for them what they built, why they built it, and for whom they built it. so, they have designed and created such masterpieces which one, by looking at each section of them, would feel pride and exaltation.
While staying and appending time in the environment of PERSEPOLIS, one would feel good, peace, solace, optimism, and humbleness. "source: TAKHT-E-JAMSHID from another view, by Habibollah PourAbdollah" ))
